How To Make A Good Impression With Your Body Language

Body language often communicates people’s true objectives better than what they say to each other. And it is common knowledge that first impressions are very vital when it comes to establishing rapport with others, especially in business. It is important that you are conscious of your body language and what they imply towards those whom you interact with.

  • Confidence: It cannot be stressed enough how important a person’s confidence is when it comes to establishing relationships with other people. Confidence can be seen through how the carries himself. Standing or sitting up straight are some signs that he or she is confident about himself and this clearly implies that he or she knows what he or she is saying. People are more drawn to people who display such behavior.
  • Eye ContactEye Contact: Making eye contact with your audience is important especially when you are trying to make a point. However, be careful not to make eye contact for too long because this can make your audience or a specific person you are looking at uncomfortable and you will lose his or her attention. Just make a brief eye contact with your audience to make sure that you have their undivided attention. Also do not make it too quick and suddenly move your eyes away from your audience because this can imply lack of confidence.
  • Take Up Some Space: Try to walk around once in a while as you demonstrate your point. When standing in one position, at least make it a point that both your feet are apart from each other as oppose to being too close. This tells people that you are confident and this position exudes an authoritative presence.
  • Relax Your Shoulders: Keep in mind that tension is often seen on a person’s shoulders. If they are stiff then it means that the person is tensed and is emotionally bothered or disturb. Relaxing your shoulders shows that you are confident about yourself and what you are saying or showing. Be conscious of your shoulders and try to practice loosening them up by taking a deep breath and then letting them fall down.

A lot of people take body language for granted and are often careless and wonder why some of their relationships with other people are not progressing.

By being conscious of your body language and the meaning that they imply to people you interact with; you will be able to improve your relationships with the people around you. Do not underestimate the body language secret.
